Harper May is working with a well-established consumer non-durables business based in London. The company operates across multiple product categories with a solid UK market presence and an expanding distribution footprint. They are privately owned and have grown steadily over the past five years through organic development and selective acquisition. The finance function is now strengthening its capability and they are seeking a Finance Manager to join the team.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own the monthly management accounts cycle and ensure the integrity of the Group's financial reporting. The role sits at the intersection of compliance and business insight-you'll be responsible for month-end close, statutory consolidation support, and the continuous refinement of financial controls across the business.
- Prepare and deliver monthly consolidated accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and supporting commentary to senior management
- Manage the full financial close process, including intercompany reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
- Support the external audit and statutory year-end process; liaise with auditors and manage timelines
- Identify and implement improvements to the accounting policy framework and control environment
- Maintain the general ledger, reconciliation schedules, and technical accounting documentation
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting to support business decision-making
What we are looking for
- ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualified (or equivalent relevant experience)
- 3-5 years' experience in a hands-on finance role with exposure to monthly reporting and consolidation
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and a methodical approach to controls
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting software; ERP experience valued
- Clear communicator who can translate numbers into meaningful business insight
