As the Mechanical Design Lead, you will take responsibility for delivering and overseeing mechanical building services design across a varied project portfolio.Your role will include:
- Leading mechanical design work, from concept through to delivery
- Producing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
- Coordinating with internal teams, architects, and contractors
- Supporting tenders, proposals, and technical submissions
- Mentoring and developing junior/intermediate engineers
- Helping to shape and grow an expanding design team
You will be based in the office full-time, working within a close-knit and supportive technical team.What you'll need to succeed
You will have a strong background in mechanical building services design and the confidence to take technical ownership. You will ideally have:
- Experience delivering mechanical design across education, commercial, industrial, or public-sector buildings
- Proficiency in IES (thermal modelling) and Revit (3D coordination)
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage design workload and contribute to project meetings
- Relevant engineering qualifications (Degree/HNC/HND)
- A desire to step into leadership if currently at Intermediate/Senior level
This role suits either an experienced Mechanical Design Lead or a high-performing engineer ready to step up.What you'll get in return
