Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our childcare setting. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring outstanding standards of care and education, maintaining compliance, and driving the overall success of the nursery.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for early years education, capable of managing a team, developing high-quality learning environments, and building strong relationships with families. You will take full accountability for the nursery’s performance, including staff, safeguarding, quality of care, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the overall leadership, management, and performance of the nursery
- Lead, inspire, and manage the nursery team, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Oversee daily nursery operations to ensure a high-quality, safe, and stimulating environment for all children
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including EYFS, Ofsted standards, safeguarding, and health & safety legislation
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring safeguarding procedures are fully embedded and upheld
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring excellent communication and customer satisfaction
- Manage occupancy levels, admissions, and retention to support the nursery’s sustainability and growth
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, resource planning, and cost control
- Drive continuous improvement, preparing for Ofsted inspections and striving for outstanding outcomes
- Promote a positive, inclusive culture aligned with the nursery’s eco-friendly and holistic ethos
- Support and develop staff through ongoing professional development and mentoring
Experience / Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (Level 5+ desirable)
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early years setting (Deputy or Manager level)
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework, Ofsted requirements, and early childhood development
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (DSL experience desirable)
- Experience managing nursery operations, including staffing, occupancy, and budgets
- Passion for delivering high-quality childcare and learning experiences
