Rehabilitation & Employability Trainer (In Custody) – HMP West Yorkshire

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £27,500 rising to £30,000 after probation
Reed FE are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Justice Services provider to recruit an Rehabilitation & Employability Trainer (In Custody) – HMP West Yorkshire.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support individuals in custody to develop confidence, life skills, and positive behaviours, helping them prepare for release and reduce reoffending.
The Role
As an In-Custody Group Trainer, you will deliver structured group sessions and provide one-to-one support to individuals within a prison setting. You will facilitate a six-week programme designed to support rehabilitation, personal development, and progression into education, training, or employment.
You will play a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where participants can reflect, build skills, and make meaningful changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging group sessions covering topics such as goal setting, managing change, social skills, and healthy relationships
- Conduct initial assessments and develop tailored action plans for participants
- Provide one-to-one support, reviewing progress and offering personalised guidance
- Build positive, professional relationships with individuals to encourage engagement and development
- Manage a caseload, balancing group delivery, individual support, and administration
About You
We are looking for a confident and empathetic practitioner with experience supporting individuals in group or training settings.
You will have:
- Experience delivering training, workshops, or group-based sessions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and build trust
- An understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable individuals
- Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records
- The ability to manage your time effectively in a structured, target-driven environment
Desirable:
- Experience working within criminal justice, education, or employability programmes
- Knowledge of rehabilitation challenges and barriers faced by individuals in custody
- Familiarity with prison environments
