Art Technician
Location: Newham, East London
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: NJC Scale (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible)
Join Our Creative and Successful Arts Department
We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Art Technician to support our vibrant Art Department at our inclusive and ambitious secondary school in Newham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping students develop their creativity and artistic skills within a well-resourced and dynamic learning environment.
The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support to teaching staff and students, ensuring that lessons are well-prepared, resources are readily available, and the department remains a stimulating and inspiring place to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, organise, and maintain materials, equipment, and resources for art lessons.
- Support teachers in the delivery of practical art activities across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
- Ensure the safe storage and maintenance of tools, machinery, and specialist equipment.
- Assist in the preparation and mounting of displays, exhibitions, and student artwork.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with health and safety requirements.
- Support students during practical lessons where appropriate.
- Undertake administrative duties to support the efficient running of the department.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has a passion for art, creativity, and education.
- Has experience working within an art, design, or educational environment (desirable but not essential).
- Possesses strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Can work independently and use initiative.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Is confident using a range of art materials, equipment, and digital resources.
