Salary: £90 – £110 per day (dependent on experience)

SEN Teaching Assistant – Bath

We are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Bath and the surrounding areas. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of needs including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Physical and sensory needs

You may work on a one-to-one basis, support small groups, or assist within the classroom to ensure every child can access learning and reach their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN in their learning and development.
  • Deliver tailored interventions and learning activities.
  • Build positive relationships that promote confidence and engagement.
  • Assist teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress.
  • Support behaviour positively and consistently.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, childcare, care, youth work, or support settings.
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous SEN Teaching Assistant experience.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly and inclusive practices.
  • Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
