Hours: Shift pattern: Week 1: 06.30 to 14.30 . Week 2: 14.00 to 22:00 (half hour unpaid lunch), plus alternate Saturday from 07.30 to 12.00

Reporting into the Workshop Manager you will play a key role in driving our mission forward by delivering a high quality, reliable, and cost-effective vehicle maintenance service, ensuring maximum vehicle availability and minimal downtime.

What will you do  

  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on vehicles, including warranty work, ensuring tasks are completed to agreed deadlines and in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present HGVs for annual MOT testing.
  • Diagnose faults and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, accurately reporting any defects.
  • Complete service documentation and job records in line with company procedures, and follow incident and near-miss reporting processes where required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment, complying with health and safety regulations, Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments, including correct use of PPE.
  • Support and guide apprentice technicians while contributing positively to the wider team.
  • Provide roadside assistance when safe to do so and participate in ongoing training to maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge.
  • Work reliably to agreed hours, with flexibility to support operational needs, including occasional cover at other site

About You

  • Hold a City & Guilds (Parts 1, 2 & 3), NVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent in HGV maintenance; alternatively, have at least 10 years’ relevant experience.
  • Ideally possess a valid HGV licence (minimum Class 2), digital tachograph card, and Driver CPC, with a good understanding of tachograph systems.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with the ability to carry out safe, efficient, and cost-effective repairs.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices
  • Communicate effectively and maintain a professional approach with colleagues and customers.
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team, using initiative and flexibility to take on new tasks.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills in a practical working environment.
