What We're Looking For:
You will be responsible for managing and carrying out the inspection, testing, identification, and reporting of fire and smoke dampers in accordance with current industry standards and legislation. The role involves leading a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, maintaining high-quality standards, and providing technical support to clients and colleagues.
- Proven experience in fire damper testing and inspection.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and industry standards.
- Experience leading teams and supervising engineers on-site.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and building layouts.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work at height and in confined spaces where required.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conduct inspections and testing of fire and smoke dampers in accordance with relevant standards, including BS 9999 and manufacturer recommendations.
- Lead and supervise fire damper testing teams on-site.
- Plan and coordinate testing schedules to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Identify, record, and report defects, non-compliances, and remedial works required.
- Produce detailed survey reports, photographic evidence, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company health and safety policies.
- Verify asset identification and maintain accurate records of damper locations and conditions.
- Liaise with clients, site managers, facilities teams, and contractors regarding access requirements and findings.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Fire Damper Technicians and Trainee Engineers.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on completed surveys and reports.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
- Support remedial teams with technical information and recommendations.
- Participate in audits and compliance reviews as required.
