Are you an experienced Facilities Management professional with a strong background in hard services, building projects and contractor management? Do you thrive in fast-paced, operational environments where no two days are the same?

The Greater London Authority is seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager – Operations & Projects to support the management of some of London's most prestigious and iconic sites, including City Hall, Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square Gardens.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering capital projects, maintaining critical building infrastructure, preserving historic monuments, and ensuring safe, efficient and compliant facilities operations across a diverse property portfolio.

Full-Time | 9-Month Contract

Location: 100% Office-Based, Southwark, London

Pay rate: £26.30 per hour PAYE | £34.15 per hour Umbrella

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and supporting complex refurbishment, infrastructure and building fabric projects.
  • Managing outsourced hard services contracts, including mechanical & electrical services, fabric maintenance and utilities.
  • Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
  • Supporting the conservation and protection of nationally significant heritage assets and monuments.
  • Managing CAFM and CAD systems, maintaining building drawings and analysing performance data.
  • Ensuring compliance with building regulations, health & safety legislation and best practice standards.
  • Supporting emergency response, incident management and business continuity planning.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, KPIs, budgets and service delivery standards.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and event teams to deliver exceptional operational outcomes.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience managing complex projects and refurbishment programmes within a facilities or property environment.
  • Strong track record of managing outsourced hard services contracts.
  • Experience maintaining or conserving historic buildings, monuments or heritage assets within a public-facing environment.
  • Hands-on experience using CAFM and CAD systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations, compliance and health & safety legislation relating to building services.
  • Experience managing emergencies, operational incidents and business continuity planning.
  • Strong stakeholder management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
