Teaching Personnel
Are you an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people?
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive secondary school in Rochdale. This rewarding role will involve working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and the SEND department to provide high-quality support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will be confident in building positive relationships with students, promoting engagement, and helping learners overcome barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted interventions and support programmes to individuals and small groups.
- Provide classroom support and, where required, lead lessons in the absence of a teacher.
- Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, and EHCPs to achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENDCOs, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using positive behaviour management techniques.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching and support staff.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
The successful candidate will have:
- HLTA status or substantial experience working in a similar role within a secondary school.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
- A strong understanding of EHCPs and how to effectively support students to meet their targets.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviours and implementing behaviour support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- A calm, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
