Reporting To: Financial Controller
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) making their first move from practice into industry.
Working closely with an experienced Financial Controller and CFO, you'll gain broad exposure across financial reporting, commercial finance and business operations. The role offers the chance to move beyond statutory accounts, developing a strong understanding of how finance supports decision-making in a growing business.
You'll be encouraged to take ownership, improve processes and develop your commercial awareness, making this an ideal stepping stone towards a future Finance Manager or Financial Controller position.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month End
Support the preparation of monthly management accounts. Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained in accordance with FRS 102.
Management Accounts & Commercial Analysis
Produce financial analysis and variance reporting to support business performance. Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting. Develop reporting that provides meaningful insight to operational teams. Support ad hoc financial modelling and analysis.
Sales & Purchase Ledger Oversight
Oversee the sales and purchase ledger processes, ensuring accurate invoice processing and reconciliations. Support credit control and supplier payment processes where required. Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
Audit & Compliance
Act as a key contact during the year-end audit. Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
Business Partnering
Build relationships across the wider business to support informed decision-making. Work closely with operational teams to understand business performance and financial drivers. About You
We're looking for someone who is eager to make the transition from practice into a commercially focused finance role.
You'll ideally have:
ACA or ACCA qualification (or be in the final stages of qualifying). Experience gained within an accountancy practice. A strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles. Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems (QuickBooks or similar is advantageous). Strong analytical skills with a desire to understand the commercial story behind the numbers. Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across the business. A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
