Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Working Hours: 30 hours per week
We are looking for a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teacher/Tutor to join a specialist provision supporting young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual potential in a nurturing, supportive environment.
The role involves teaching small groups of up to four students in the morning and a further four students in the afternoon, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and deliver personalised learning tailored to each student's needs, abilities and learning style. You'll work closely with support staff and the wider team to create engaging lessons that promote confidence, independence and positive outcomes.
Many of the students may have additional learning needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism (ASC), ADHD or other barriers to education. A calm, flexible and positive approach is essential, as is the ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of each learner.
- Create a safe, structured and positive learning environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching approaches where necessary.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider staff team to support students effectively.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistency, encouragement and restorative approaches.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports where required.
- Support students in developing both academic skills and confidence, resilience and independence.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, alternative provisions or small-group settings.
- Is patient, empathetic and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Can deliver creative and engaging lessons that inspire learners.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is adaptable, resilient and committed to making a lasting difference in students' lives.
- Brings a warm, approachable and positive attitude to the role.
Why Join?
- Small class sizes, allowing you to focus on each student's individual needs.
- A welcoming and supportive team environment.
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the education and wellbeing of young people.
- Consistent Monday-Friday hours with a healthy work-life balance.
- Competitive daily rates with PAYE and Umbrella payment options.
If you're an SEN Teacher or Tutor who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face, we'd love to hear from you. Join a specialist setting where your skills, compassion and dedication can have a real and lasting impact.
