Senior Accountant
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice looking for a Senior Accountant to support a diverse range of SME clients. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, giving you exposure to accounts preparation, tax compliance, VAT and client advisory work.
The Role As a Senior Accountant, you'll manage your own portfolio of clients, building strong relationships while ensuring accounts and tax work are delivered accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Preparing and submitting Corporation Tax and Self Assessment tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors
- Reviewing bookkeeping records and preparing management information where required
- Advising clients on day-to-day accounting and tax matters
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory deadlines
About You
- Previous experience working in an accountancy practice is essential
- Confident preparing accounts from trial balance through to final accounts
- Good understanding of Corporation Tax, Personal Tax and VAT
- Experience managing client relationships
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
