Multimodal Import Clerk

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Import Freight Forwarding Operator to join their established team based in Southampton.

This is a great opportunity to join a successful and supportive business, where you will be responsible for managing the full freight forwarding process across Air, Road and Ocean. The ideal candidate will already have freight forwarding experience, take a proactive approach to their work, and be keen to build a long-term career within the industry.

Location: Southampton

Salary: £30,000- £40,000 DOE

Full Time – Office Based

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the full import shipping process from start to finish.
• Arranging and completing CDS customs clearances.
• Coordinating container and groupage deliveries.
• Booking shipments with overseas agents and partners.
• Preparing and checking shipping documentation while ensuring customs compliance.
• Tracking shipments and providing customers with regular updates.
• Delivering a high standard of customer service and building strong client relationships.
• Liaising with shipping lines, hauliers, customs authorities and internal departments to ensure smooth operations.

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

• A minimum of 3 years' experience within import freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of Sea, Air and Road import operations.
• Experience completing CDS customs entries and customs clearance procedures.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
