We're looking for a Lawyer, Committees & Tribunals to join our Milton Keynes team on a permanent basis. The role offers a salary of £74,000, hybrid working (2 office/3 home), and 9:00am-5:00pm hours. Additional office attendance may be required during the first 8 weeks for training. You'll also travel to London for committee meetings, with dates scheduled in advance. Attendance at these is essential.
What you will be doing;
- Provide legal and procedural guidance to regulatory committees, acting as secretary to ensure decisions are fair, transparent, consistent and legally defensible
- Act as a critical legal safeguard by reviewing and refining committee decision drafts, ensuring alignment with public law principles and ICAEW's regulatory framework
- Conduct gateway reviews – legal checks on regulatory cases at draft stage to identify substantive or procedural issues before committee referral
- Draft guidance, regulations and internal policies, advising on regulatory developments and supporting the evolution of ICAEW's regulatory framework
- Line manage Committees and Tribunals Officers, supporting their professional development and delivery of high-quality committee administration
- Serve as first point of contact for procedural queries arising from committee decisions, identifying legal risks and advising on process integrity
What you will need;
- Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years' post qualification experience (PQE)
- Experience working in a regulated environment, professional discipline arena, or local authority – ideally in a legal or advisory capacity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement under pressure, the ability to manage a varied and autonomous workload, and some experience managing or supervising others
