HGV Class 2 Driver / Loader – Refuse & Recycling

Pay Rate: £15.74 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm

We are currently recruiting for HGV Class 2 Driver / Loaders to join a busy Refuse & Recycling operation based in Matlock, DE4. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers seeking ongoing work with regular weekday hours and immediate starts available.
The role involves driving both 26-tonne and 7.5-tonne refuse collection vehicles as required, while also supporting the loading crew to ensure collection routes are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with service level agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily refuse and recycling collections across designated routes
- Safely operate 26-tonne and 7.5-tonne collection vehicles when required
- Assist with refuse loading duties to support the crew and ensure routes are completed on time
- Operate collection machinery safely and effectively
- Undertake all duties professionally using safe lifting and manual handling techniques
- Use in-cab technology and mobile devices as directed
- Complete all relevant paperwork and records accurately and in real time
- Conduct daily vehicle and machinery inspections before and after use, reporting any defects promptly
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and equipment
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with members of the public and other road users
- Comply with all health & safety procedures and company policies
What We're Looking For
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence
- No more than 6 penalty points
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
- Previous refuse, recycling, waste management, or relevant driving experience preferred
- Willingness to assist with refuse loading duties throughout the working day
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Flexible approach with a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks
- Clean driving licence desirable
