Seymour John are recruiting on behalf of a well-established business, based in Burton upon Trent, who are looking to appoint a part-time Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team. This role offers 9am–3pm hours, hybrid working, and salary is negotiable.
The Opportunity
As Accounts Assistant, you will support the Finance Controller and wider team with the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Sales Ledger – raising invoices, sending statements, allocating receipts, debtor chasing, and setting up new customer accounts.
- Purchase Ledger – processing supplier invoices, matching POs, reconciling statements, assisting with payment runs, and handling supplier queries.
- Bank & Cash – posting transactions, bank reconciliations, and supporting cash monitoring.
- General Finance Support – assisting with month-end, maintaining accurate records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting process improvements.
Personal Profile
We’re looking for someone with proven experience in a transactional finance role and confidence handling day-to-day ledger activity. You will be comfortable working across both sales ledger and purchase ledger processes, bringing strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
Key skills and attributes include:
- Good Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
- AAT qualified or currently studying (desirable but not essential)
- High accuracy, strong organisation, and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- A proactive, reliable attitude and confidence communicating with suppliers and customers
