Job Title: Service Charge Accountant
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Hours: : Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Charge Accountant to join a growing and fast-paced property management business based in the heart of Birmingham. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Property Managers with the preparation, review, and management of annual service charge budgets.
- Prepare year-end service charge accounts, ensuring accurate reporting of expenditure and timely distribution to leaseholders.
- Carry out regular bank, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Monitor service charge arrears, issue demands, and proactively manage debt recovery in line with company procedures.
- Produce accurate monthly and quarterly management reports, highlighting budget variances.
- Act as the main point of contact for leaseholders, clients, and auditors regarding service charge financial queries.
Requirements
- 3–4 years' experience in a service charge accounting role within the property sector.
- Strong understanding of service charge accounting, RICS guidelines, and relevant landlord and tenant legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional approach to client relationships and credit control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and property management software such as Qube, Tramps, Yardi, or similar.
