An ambitious and inclusive comprehensive secondary school in Tunbridge Wells is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head of Year to join their pastoral team on a maternity cover basis.
The Role
As Head of Year, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ experience, supporting their wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development. You’ll work closely with staff, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure students thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a cohort of students, building strong relationships with them and their families
- Monitor and improve attendance, behaviour and punctuality
- Provide pastoral guidance and promote student wellbeing
- Support safeguarding and ensure a safe environment for all students
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, senior leaders and external agencies
- Organise year group activities, assemblies, rewards and enrichment opportunities
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews

- Experience supporting young people in a school or similar setting
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- A proactive, resilient and compassionate approach
