Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
· Maintain compliance framework covering:
· Data protection (UK GDPR, DPA, PECR)
· Consumer protection (DMCCA)
· Advertising compliance (ASA/CAP)
· Fraud prevention requirements
· Ensure business practices, policies, and customer interactions meet regulatory standards
· Provide clear, commercially minded, pragmatic compliance guidance
Privacy & Data Protection
- Own the organisation's data protection framework and policies
- Ensure all uses of personal data are lawful, transparent, and compliant
· Oversee Subject Access Requests (SARs), law enforcement data requests and data breach reporting
· Advise on privacy risks across business and marketing activity
Consumer Protection & Marketing Compliance
· Ensure compliance with DMCCA and ASA/CAP Code
· Provide commercial oversight of customer and marketing activity
· Support resolution of customer queries and complaints
Fraud Prevention & Risk
- Work with the fraud team to protect customers, suppliers, and the business
- Ensure controls are effective, proportionate and aligned to evolving threats
Regulatory Engagement
· Manage relationships with Trading Standards, ICO, and ASA
· Handle regulatory enquiries, investigations, and reporting
· Represent the business in external communications
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with including Directors and leadership teams
· Collaborate across Customer Services, Retail, Marketing, IT, HR and Group functions (Privacy, Legal, Risk)
Profile
Essential
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a regulatory compliance role
- Commercially minded.
- Strong expertise in:
- Data protection and privacy regulation
- Consumer protection legislation (including DMCCA)
- Marketing/advertising compliance (ASA/CAP)
- Proven experience engaging directly with regulators
- Strong understanding of fraud risk and prevention frameworks, ability to balance regulatory requirements with commercial objectives
- Experience managing high-risk issues, complaints, and regulatory enquiries
Desirable
- Experience in a large or medium sized business providing services to consumers
- Formal compliance, legal or risk qualification (e.g. ICA, CIPP/E, or equivalent)
