Job Purpose Refuse Driver
To safely operate refuse collection vehicles and support the efficient collection of household, commercial, and recyclable waste. The Refuse Driver is responsible for ensuring collection rounds are completed on schedule while maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities Refuse Driver
- Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles in accordance with road traffic laws and company policies.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Complete assigned collection routes efficiently and safely.
- Work closely with loaders and other crew members to ensure smooth waste collection operations.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE.
- Ensure waste is transported and disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, including vehicle checks, collection reports, and timesheets.
- Provide a professional and courteous service to customers and members of the public.
- Report incidents, accidents, or operational issues to management promptly.
- Assist with loading duties when required.
Experience Refuse Driver
Essential Refuse Driver
- Previous experience driving large commercial vehicles.
- Experience working in a waste management, logistics, transport, or local authority environment.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and vehicle safety checks.
