MacKenzie King are proud to be working with a well-established and growing business based in Ipswich, to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress within finance, gaining exposure to management accounts, reporting, and analysis within a fast-paced and supportive environment.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare and assist with the production of monthly management accounts
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reporting packs
- Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis
- Support cashflow monitoring and forecasting
- Maintain data accuracy across financial systems (including Xero and operational platforms)
- Provide direct support to the Management Accountant to manage workload and reporting deadlines
- Assist with audit preparation and financial compliance processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within finance operations
- Support purchase ledger processing and supplier management
- Assist with sales invoicing and accounts receivable
- Support credit control activities and allocation of receipts
- Assist with payment runs and bank reconciliations
Qualifications and experience
- AAT Level 4 qualified or nearing completion (essential)
- Proven experience supporting month-end and management accounts processes
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles
- Experience across finance operations (purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations)
- Confident user of Excel and accounting systems (Xero desirable)
- High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
- Proactive, reliable, and solution-focused
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Calm under pressure with a supportive team mindset
