General Driver / Grounds Maintenance Worker
- Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour PAYE
- Location: Rochdale Council, Heywood, OL10 2DY
- Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (3 – 4 months)
Rochdale Council are looking for a General Driver / Grounds Maintenance Worker for a temporary position based at Green Lane (Environmental Management). This role is perfect for individuals who are physically fit, reliable, and have a passion for horticulture. The position involves a variety of grounds maintenance tasks as well as driving duties within the borough.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Carry out general gardening and grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting using various types of mowers.
- Perform strimming, hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, and edging in council green spaces.
- Remove weeds and conduct general street cleansing.
- Litter picking and emptying litter bins as required.
- Drive council vehicles to various locations for maintenance tasks.
- Participate in a driving assessment to confirm capability of handling large council vehicles.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Physical fitness and ability to perform labor-intensive tasks.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work in different parts of the borough and to work overtime as needed.
- Full UK driving licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles is essential.
- Desirable: Qualification in Horticulture (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Desirable: Pesticides Application Certificate PA1 & PA6.
- Experience in a grounds maintenance environment is preferred.
