Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Our client is a well-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their engineering team in Milton Keynes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining actively involved in maintenance activities. You'll be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of production equipment, leading maintenance activities and supporting continuous improvement across the site.
The Role
As Maintenance Supervisor, you'll lead a team of engineers, coordinate daily maintenance activities and provide technical support to minimise downtime and maximise production performance. Working closely with the Production and Operations teams, you'll play a key role in improving equipment reliability and ensuring planned maintenance is completed effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support the maintenance team to deliver high-quality engineering support.
- Plan and prioritise reactive and planned maintenance activities.
- Provide hands-on support during equipment breakdowns and complex repairs.
- Carry out fault finding and implement effective corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability and maintenance performance.
- Ensure planned preventative maintenance schedules are completed and continually reviewed.
- Manage engineering spare parts and consumables to maintain effective stock levels.
- Coordinate external contractors and ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company's maintenance management system.
- Work closely with production teams to support operational performance.
- Promote high standards of health, safety and housekeeping across the engineering function.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support engineering projects where required.
- Coach and develop members of the maintenance team to enhance technical capability and performance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Engineer or Senior Maintenance Engineer position.
- A recognised engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled).
- Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) would be advantageous.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively under pressure.
