We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join our client on an immediate basis. This is a hands on role requiring a proactive individual who can help clear a backlog while maintaining the day to day finance function.
The successful candidate must be available to start immediately and work from the office. The role can be offered on either a 4 day or 5 day per week basis, depending on the successful candidate's preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and reducing a backlog of finance transactions
- Raising and processing sales invoices
- Processing purchase invoices and supplier payments
- Managing the accounts receivable process, including receipt allocation and reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Assisting with month end processes and reporting
- Posting and reviewing journals
- Preparing and assisting with VAT returns
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers
- Supporting the finance team with ad hoc accounting duties
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and financial controls
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
- Strong working knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger and general bookkeeping procedures
- Experience with month end processes, journals and VAT
- Good understanding of accounting principles
- Excellent IT skills, including strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables and data analysis)
- Experience using Xero
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a busy workload
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively

- Previous experience using Xero and Excel
