Internal Auditor – Food Logistics / BRCGS
Our client is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to support compliance and continuous improvement across two BRCGS-accredited sites. This role is responsible for planning and delivering internal audits, ensuring compliance with BRCGS standards, customer requirements and relevant legislation, while driving improvements across quality, food safety and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver the annual internal audit programme across multiple sites.
- Conduct scheduled and unannounced audits covering quality, food safety, hygiene, traceability, supplier compliance and operational processes.
- Identify non-conformities, produce audit reports and oversee corrective and preventative actions.
- Support external audits, customer inspections and regulatory visits.
- Carry out risk assessments and root cause investigations to improve compliance.
- Maintain audit records, monitor compliance trends and report on KPIs.
- Review and update quality documentation, policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to promote a strong food safety and quality culture.
- Support the ongoing development of Quality and Food Safety Management Systems.
- Stay up to date with BRCGS standards, legislation and industry best practice.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as an Internal Auditor, Compliance Auditor, Quality Auditor or similar within food logistics, warehousing, supply chain or food manufacturing.
- Good working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety and/or BRCGS Storage & Distribution standards.
- Internal Auditor qualification or recognised auditing certification is desirable.
- Experience conducting risk-based audits and managing corrective action plans.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, investigative and report-writing skills.
- Confident interpreting standards and legislation and applying them in an operational environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the business.
