Hours: 36 hours per week (8.00am–6.00pm, 4 days per week)
Pay Rate: £16.73 per hour
Role Purpose
To manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen, preparing and serving high-quality meals and snacks whilst maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the kitchen and oversee daily food production.
- Prepare and serve meals in line with menus, recipes, portion controls, and quality standards.
- Order ingredients and manage kitchen stock effectively.
- Support the training and supervision of catering staff.
- Ensure residents are offered choice and meals meet individual dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following infection control procedures.
- Adhere to HACCP, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Fire Safety regulations, including record keeping.
- Report faulty equipment, maintenance issues, or hazards promptly.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Attend mandatory training and staff meetings.
Person Specification
Essential
- Catering qualification.
- Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Flexible approach to working weekends and shift patterns.
- Satisfactory Access NI check.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of IDDSI guidance.
- Experience working within a care home or healthcare setting.
