Operational Risk Manager

  • Glasgow, Scotland

  • Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited

Your new company Join a highly respected and purpose-driven organisation with a strong reputation for supporting professionals across the healthcare sector. With a collaborative culture and a commitment to strong governance, the organisation is continuing to invest in its risk management capability and is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to support the development and enhancement of its operational risk framework.

Your new role As Operational Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the Governance team, working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to identify, assess, monitor and manage operational risks. You will support the development of a robust risk culture by ensuring effective risk assessment, reporting, control testing and mitigation activities are embedded throughout the organisation.

A key responsibility of the role will be overseeing the rollout and implementation of a new Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system. You will work with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure successful adoption of the platform, improve risk reporting capabilities, enhance data quality and support the integration of risk management processes into day-to-day operations.

You will lead the continued improvement of operational risk monitoring and reporting, undertake gap analyses, develop key risk indicators and provide insight into emerging and existing risks. You will also prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and governance committees, helping to inform strategic decision-making and business planning activities.

What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience working within a risk management environment, ideally within financial services, insurance, healthcare or another regulated sector. You will have a solid understanding of operational risk frameworks and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

A degree or relevant professional qualification is desirable, alongside membership of a professional body such as the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) or Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Experience leading or supporting the implementation of a GRC system, risk management software or a similar business-critical platform would be highly advantageous.

You will possess excellent analytical, report-writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a range of audiences. A proactive mindset, strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively will be key to your success.

What you'll get in return This is an excellent opportunity to join an organisation where risk management is highly valued and where you can make a genuine impact. You'll have the chance to lead a significant Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) systems implementation, work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to the continued enhancement of governance and risk processes across the business.

In return, you'll benefit from a highly competitive rewards package, including a generous employer pension contribution of up to 15%, private medical insurance, and an excellent annual leave allowance, alongside a range of additional wellbeing and lifestyle benefits. You'll also enjoy a supportive and collaborative working environment, exposure to strategic projects, and the opportunity to further develop your career within a well-established and respected organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a risk professional looking to combine operational risk expertise, systems implementation experience and stakeholder engagement within a values-led organisation that genuinely invests in its people.
