Location: Oxford
Shift Pattern: Thursday to Sunday
Hours: 5:30pm – 2:30am (Permanent Nights)
Salary: Up to £45,000 (with flexibility for an exceptional candidate)

The Opportunity

An established and growing distribution operation is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead a busy night-shift warehouse team in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven warehouse leader from an FMCG environment who thrives in a fast-paced operational setting and enjoys developing high-performing teams.

Reporting into the senior operational leadership team, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for warehouse performance, compliance, health and safety, team engagement and operational efficiency across the site.

This role requires a hands-on leader who is highly visible within the operation, capable of making real-time decisions while also planning for future growth and increasing operational volumes.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day warehouse operation on a permanent night shift.
  • Ensure operational targets are consistently achieved across productivity, quality and service levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
  • Maintain high standards of warehouse housekeeping and operational discipline.
  • Take ownership of labour planning to ensure resources are effectively utilised.
  • Support operational growth plans through effective workforce and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with wider operational teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

People Management

  • Lead, motivate and develop a warehouse team of approximately 30 employees.
  • Directly manage and support Warehouse Supervisors, providing coaching and development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and identify development needs.
  • Manage attendance, sickness, absence and employee relations matters professionally and effectively.
  • Foster a positive and accountable working culture that promotes engagement and retention.
  • Support recruitment activities as the operation continues to grow.
  • Drive high levels of employee performance through clear communication, coaching and leadership.

  • Stock accuracy and inventory integrity

  • Employee engagement and retention

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience operating as a Warehouse Manager.
  • Demonstrable experience managing warehouse teams of approximately 30 employees.
  • Previous experience within an FMCG environment.
  • Strong people management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience managing attendance, employee relations and performance issues.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on leadership style with a visible presence on the warehouse floor.

Desirable Qualifications

  • IOSH qualification.
  • Health & Safety qualification.
  • First Aid certification.

Due to the operational nature of the business, flexibility is required, and additional hours may be necessary to ensure operational requirements are met.
