Leaman Consulting
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a warm, experienced and engaging Mandarin-speaking nanny to join a welcoming international family based in Iceland.
Caring for two active young children, aged 4 and 2, you will provide outstanding day-to-day care while creating a nurturing, stimulating and language-rich environment. The family would love the children to develop their Mandarin through natural conversation, play and everyday life.
This is a hands-on role suited to a nanny who enjoys being outdoors, encouraging curiosity, and creating meaningful learning opportunities. You will plan engaging educational activities, support emotional, social and language development, prepare nutritious meals for the children, and assist with light household duties, meal preparation and errands while the children are at preschool. The parents are actively involved and are looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a family team rather than solely focusing on childcare.
The family travels extensively throughout the year, including spending approximately one month in Cape Town each winter, so flexibility and a love of travel are essential.
Requirements
- Native or fluent Mandarin speaker.
- Must hold an EU passport
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ideally 10+ years' professional childcare experience, with experience caring for multiple young children.
- Patient, optimistic, articulate, intelligent and physically active, with the energy to keep up with two young children.
- Passionate about supporting children's emotional, social and language development through play and everyday experiences.
- Naturally curious, creative and able to inspire children's interest in nature, different cultures and the wider world.
- Confident planning enriching activities tailored to each child's individual interests and stage of development.
- Comfortable working flexible hours and adapting to changing family travel plans.
- Happy to assist with children's meal preparation, light household duties and family errands.
- Confident cycling with children in a cargo bike (or willing to do so).
- Happy to travel internationally.
Desirable
- Conversational or fluent Mandarin (essentially preferred if not native).
- Driver's licence.
- Background in Early Years or Primary Education.
- Interest in mindfulness and children's wellbeing.
The family place great importance on finding someone who is kind, grounded, independent and proactive, someone who genuinely enjoys teaching children, fostering their curiosity, and becoming a long-term, trusted part of the family.
