This role will suit someone with experience handling third-party casualty, liability or related claims, either from an insurer, Lloyd's/London Market environment, adjusting background or legal practice. Candidates currently working as a Solicitor or Associate within a relevant insurance litigation, casualty, liability or coverage-focused team may also be considered.
The portfolio will include UK, Ireland and international casualty and liability claims, with exposure to US casualty matters. The role requires someone who can take a proactive approach to claims management, work closely with market stakeholders and support the fair, efficient and technically sound resolution of claims.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a caseload of casualty and liability claims within agreed authority levels
- Reviewing policy coverage, liability and quantum across third-party claims
- Handling UK, Ireland and international claims, with exposure to US casualty matters
- Setting and maintaining accurate reserves in line with internal procedures
- Liaising with brokers, clients, underwriters, lawyers, loss adjusters, TPAs and other market professionals
- Monitoring claim developments and ensuring claims are progressed efficiently
- Maintaining accurate claims records and ensuring all activity is documented appropriately
- Supporting reserve reviews and providing clear updates on key claim movements
- Identifying issues, trends or potential risks and escalating where appropriate
- Working closely with underwriting and wider business teams to share claims insight
- Contributing to claims projects, process improvements and wider team initiatives
Requirements:
- Experience handling casualty, liability or related third-party insurance claims
- Alternatively, experience as a Solicitor or Associate within insurance litigation, casualty, liability or coverage work
- A good understanding of claims handling, legal principles and insurance policy response
- Confidence assessing coverage, liability, quantum and reserving
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with brokers, lawyers, adjusters, TPAs and internal stakeholders
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A proactive and commercial approach to claims resolution
- Progress towards ACII or another relevant professional qualification would be beneficial, but is not essential
This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional, or legally trained insurance specialist, to move into a technical casualty and liability claims role within a well-regarded specialist insurance environment.
