Key Responsibilities
- Lead audit engagements for a portfolio of UK and international clients, ensuring delivery to ICAEW auditing standards and internal quality benchmarks.
- Develop and execute audit plans, audit programmes and risk-based testing strategies, including substantive testing and analytical procedures.
- Utilise audit software (CaseWare, IDEA) to prepare working papers, document findings and produce high-quality audit evidence.
- Perform detailed financial statement preparation and review in accordance with IFRS, UK GAAP and other regulatory frameworks.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify control weaknesses and recommend process improvements to clients.
- Maintain effective client communication, building strong relationships while managing expectations and delivering clear insights.
- Coordinate with tax teams to incorporate relevant tax knowledge into audit work where appropriate.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on audit methodology, technical standards and professional development.
- Manage project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure engagements are completed on schedule.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in auditing standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- ACCA Member (or equivalent qualification).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in audit software (CaseWare, IDEA) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth knowledge of ICAEW Auditing Standards, IFRS, UK GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Experience in audit planning, programme development, risk assessment and substantive testing.
- Project management and process improvement capabilities.
- Solid understanding of tax concepts and basic financial statement preparation.
Desired Experience
Exactly 3 years of relevant audit experience, preferably within a UK-based accounting practice or a similar professional services environment.
