Mechanical Engineering Lecturer
Location: Carlisle
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 4 days per week (approx. 8:30 – 17:00)

The Supply Register is currently recruiting Mechanical Engineering Lecturers to support Carlisle College. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Mechanical Engineering Lecturers or industry professionals looking to move into education on a flexible basis.
The Role
As an Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons, supporting learners across a range of engineering disciplines to develop the skills and knowledge required for further study or careers in the sector.
Key responsibilities include:

Delivering Engineering lessons (BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ)

Teaching across areas such as mechanical, pneumatics, CAD, thermos fluids etc.

Supporting practical workshop sessions and demonstrations

Preparing learners for assessments, coursework, and exams

Monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback

Promoting health & safety within workshop environments

Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Industry experience within Mechanical Engineering
-
Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above)
-
Teaching experience or willingness to move into education
-
Strong practical and communication skills
-
Ability to engage and support post-16 learners
-
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
-
Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET)
-
Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, or equivalent)
-
Experience delivering BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ qualifications
-
Previous experience within Further Education
