Head of Finance Business Partnering – Interim
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority to appoint an Interim Head of Finance Business Partnering to lead the Council's finance business partnering function.
This is a senior interim leadership assignment focused on delivering effective financial advice, strategic support and business partnering across the Council.

Rate: £600 – £700 (Negotiable) Contract length:3-6 ongoing Full-time Hybrid working: Minimum 1 day per week Start: ASAP / subject to notice
The Role
The successful candidate will lead the Finance Business Partnering service, supporting strategic decision-making, budget management and delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy.
Key responsibilities:
* Leading and managing Senior Finance Business Partners and associated teams. * Providing strategic financial advice to Directors, senior officers and elected Members. * Supporting budget setting, budget monitoring, financial planning and MTFS delivery. * Challenging and influencing service decisions to ensure best value and strong financial management. * Improving financial reporting, analysis, modelling and links between finance, activity and outcomes. * Supporting transformation, savings delivery and service improvement across the Council. * Acting as senior finance business partner for Corporate Services / Transformation.
About You
You will ideally have:
* Full CCAB qualification or equivalent – essential. * Significant post-qualified finance experience in a large, complex organisation. * Strong Local Authority finance experience at senior level. * Proven experience leading finance business partnering teams. * Strong knowledge of budget setting, monitoring, MTFS and financial planning. * Experience advising senior stakeholders, Directors and elected Members. * Ability to work in a political environment and support complex organisational change.
