- Location: Surrey/Sussex
- Salary: £55k with potential for increase after probation
- Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00, Onsite

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager with a robust background in waste management and recycling, who is skilled in commercial development and operational leadership.
Day-to-day duties of the role:
- Oversee daily operations, including planning for inbound and outbound tonnage.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to balance site processing capacity with waste processing, disposal requirements and customer service.
- Manage commercial relationships with customers, disposal outlets, hauliers, suppliers and local authorities.
- Negotiate commercial contracts that align with business strategies for waste supply and offtake.
- Drive business development by identifying new customers, disposal routes, and service improvements.
- Prepare commercial proposals, customer communications, and conduct contract reviews.
- Provide regular reports to management on business activities and performance.
- Monitor daily and weekly performance, managing revenue, tonnage, and disposal costs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, waste transfer procedures, and site rules.
- Collaborate with HSEQ and operational teams to uphold safety and professional standards.
- Support office, transport and commercial teams in resolving customer issues and operational challenges.
- Assist in strategic planning of waste supply and offtake contracts.
- Represent the business in meetings with various stakeholders.
- Develop bids and tenders for new business opportunities in various sectors.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in waste transfer station operations and skip/roll-on roll-off operations.
- Strong capabilities in business development and operational planning.
- Proficient in commercial negotiation and contract management.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of waste disposal and outlet planning.
- Line management experience.
- Awareness of environmental compliance and health and safety.
- Excellent written communication and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Proven ability in cost control and margin improvement.
- Effective management of suppliers and subcontractors.
