Dispatch Team Leader
Location: Wednesbury
Salary: Up to £36,000
Hours: Full Time | Permanent | On-Site
We are recruiting for an experienced Dispatch Team Leader to join a busy and growing manufacturing business based in Wednesbury.
This is a hands-on role responsible for leading the day-to-day dispatch operation, planning delivery routes, coordinating drivers and ensuring all transport activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with legal requirements.
The successful candidate will be confident managing transport operations in a fast-paced environment, whilst supporting and developing a small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily dispatch and transport operation
- Plan and optimise delivery routes and schedules
- Coordinate driver workloads and vehicle utilisation
- Lead, motivate and support the dispatch team
- Ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on time
- Monitor transport KPIs and operational performance
- Ensure compliance with driver hours, Working Time Directive regulations, tachograph requirements and vehicle checks
- Maintain awareness of current transport legislation and driver legal obligations
- Work closely with production, warehouse and customer service teams
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service levels
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within dispatch, transport, logistics or distribution operations
- Proven route planning and scheduling experience
- Experience supervising or leading a team
- Strong understanding of driver hours regulations, working time rules and transport compliance requirements
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Manufacturing or warehouse experience would be advantageous
- Good IT and administration skills
- CPC qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
