An international consulting company is currently recruiting a Head of Medtech and Life Sciences to lead its Japan team.

The Head of Medtech and Life Sciences will be responsible for leading market entry, sales and licensing projects for international clients in biotech, medical devices, IVD and digital health, while managing and developing the Japan MTLS team.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IVD or life sciences, team management experience, and Business level of fluency in Japanese and English.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Medtech and Life Sciences team in Japan

• Oversee market entry, sales and licensing projects for international healthcare clients

• Manage the full commercial cycle from lead generation to negotiation, deal closing and account management

• Coach, support and train team members across client projects and business development activities

• Provide market insights, sector knowledge and strategic advice to clients and internal stakeholders

• Build and deepen relationships across pharma, biotech, medical device, IVD and foodtech sectors

• Develop business development materials, processes and infrastructure to support team performance

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 10 years' experience working in Japan within pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IVD or life sciences

• Degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry, immunology, biomedical science or a related discipline

• Experience recruiting, leading and developing a team

• Experience providing market insights, sector knowledge and commercial or strategic advice to stakeholders

• Business level of fluency in Japanese and English

• Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills

• Consulting experience or a business qualification would be advantageous

Conditions

• Location: Tokyo, Japan

• Working Style: TBC

• Salary: ¥-¥ per annum depending on experience

• Job Type: permanent, full-time

• Working Hours: Mon-Fri

• Start: negotiable
