Environmental Health Officer
- Hourly Rate: £50 per hour (via umbrella company)
- Location: Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
- Job Type: Contract (Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office/site visits, 2 days remote)
- Contract Length: Initially 3 months, with potential extension
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join the Environmental Protection Team at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. This role is crucial for supporting a busy service, primarily focused on environmental protection functions including noise nuisance investigations, air quality matters, and statutory nuisance complaints.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct noise nuisance investigations and manage statutory nuisance complaints.
- Address air quality issues, including monitoring and reporting.
- Draft and serve legal notices related to environmental protection.
- Investigate complex environmental protection cases.
- Prepare legal files and represent the Council in court proceedings.
- Provide expert environmental health advice on planning and licensing consultations.
- Support enforcement activities across various environmental protection functions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Environmental Protection or Environmental Health within a local authority setting.
- Strong knowledge of statutory nuisance, noise nuisance, and air quality legislation.
- Proven track record of undertaking investigations and formal enforcement actions.
- Experience in drafting and defending legal notices.
- Court attendance and evidential experience.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Additional experience in contaminated land, pollution prevention and control, planning consultations, or prosecution work would be advantageous.
