About the Role We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive school in Pontefract from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of pupils with a range of additional needs. You will be responsible for delivering tailored, engaging lessons to support students with SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and/or moderate learning difficulties, ensuring every learner can reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons suitable for a range of SEN needs Develop and implement EHCPs and personalised learning strategies Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment Monitor progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Experience working with SEN pupils (school-based or specialist setting) Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education Excellent communication and behaviour management skills A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
