Welsh Medium Primary Teacher – Permanent Position

Location: Newport, South Wales

Contract: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 32.5 hours per week Start Date: September 2026

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a Welsh-medium primary school in the Newport area to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Welsh-speaking Teacher for a permanent position commencing in September 2026.

The Role

As a Welsh Medium Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching through the medium of Welsh, creating a stimulating classroom environment, and supporting pupils to become confident, independent learners. You will play an important role in fostering a positive attitude towards learning and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons through the medium of Welsh. • Create an inclusive learning environment that supports the needs of all pupils. • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress to ensure positive outcomes. • Promote Welsh language development and celebrate Welsh culture throughout school life. • Differentiate learning activities to meet the needs of learners of varying abilities. • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues. • Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and wider school initiatives. • Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development. • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

The Ideal Candidate

• Is a fluent Welsh speaker with the ability to teach confidently through the medium of Welsh. • Has a genuine passion for primary education and supporting young learners. • Demonstrates creativity and enthusiasm in lesson planning and delivery. • Is committed to raising standards and helping every child succeed. • Possesses excellent classroom management and organisational skills. • Values teamwork and enjoys contributing to a positive school culture. • Has strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with families and colleagues. • Embraces professional learning and continuous development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification. • Experience teaching within a primary school setting is desirable. • Sound understanding of the Curriculum for Wales. • Ability to teach and communicate fluently in Welsh.

Recruitment Process

Teaching Personnel is supporting the school with the recruitment of a permanent member of teaching staff. The selection process will involve an interview and a teaching activity or classroom observation.
