Assistant Accountant – Fundraising

We’re helping a growing fundraising business hire a part-time Assistant Accountant to support their finance function. It’s a hands-on role that offers real breadth — from payroll and VAT to reconciliations and reporting. You’ll be joining a tight-knit team with a collaborative feel and a shared sense of purpose.
WISH LIST
- Solid experience in transactional finance and bookkeeping
- Comfortable working across multiple entities and systems
- Detail-focused, proactive, and happy to pitch in where needed
THE ROLE
- Process 4-weekly payroll across multiple companies
- Submit RTI, upload pension data, and process BACs payments
- Manage and file quarterly VAT returns
- Reconcile bank accounts and record daily transactions in Xero
- Review, approve, and export weekly employee expenses
- Process supplier invoices and manage approvals
- Support payment runs
- Assist with period-end tasks and reporting
- Work with tools like Xero, BrightPay, and Pleo
- Provide general finance support across the business
YOUR PROFILE
- Experience in bookkeeping and transactional finance
- Effective communicator – written & verbal
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- Experienced with Xero or similar accounting software
- Confident processing payroll and VAT for small businesses
SALARY & BENEFITS
- £30,000–£38,000 FTE + bonus
- 28 hours/week – flexible Mon–Thurs or split over 5 days
- Hybrid: 2 days in Woking office, 2 days remote
- 36 days holiday (pro rata) incl. bank holidays
