An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join a well-established public sector legal team on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll manage your own caseload while providing high-quality legal advice across a broad range of local authority litigation matters.
The Role
You will:
- Manage a varied litigation caseload, advising on a range of local authority matters
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Attend (as required) meetings, committees, and hearings
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and reports
- Represent the organisation in court, tribunals, or public inquiries where necessary
About You
We’re looking for:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience handling litigation matters, ideally within a local authority or public sector setting
- Strong advocacy and case management experience
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience advising on litigation, housing, regulatory or related matters
- Ability to provide practical, solution-focused legal advice
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Confident stakeholder management across all levels
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider legal team
