SEN Teaching Assistant
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and supportive SEN Teaching Assistant to work with pupils in the Farnborough area. This role involves supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide structured and consistent support, helping pupils access the curriculum, stay engaged in lessons, and develop confidence. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within small groups depending on individual pupil needs.
This is a rewarding position for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils who require additional guidance to succeed in education.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support and small-group assistance for pupils with SEN
- Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily routines
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
- Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured environment
- Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Patient, calm, and supportive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build positive and trusting relationships
- Adaptable and able to respond to different situations
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, or support roles welcomed
Contract Details:
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
- Location: Farnborough
- Start Date: ASAP
- Working Pattern: Full-time, term-time
- Pay Rate:£14.25 – £15.66 per hour
- Key Stages: Primary / Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
- SEN or relevant child-support experience desirable
- Safeguarding training can be provided
- Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
