For 2026/27, Statutory Maternity Pay is normally 90% of average weekly earnings for the first 6 weeks, then £194.32 per week or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is lower, for the next 33 weeks. SMP can be paid for up to 39 weeks. This tool does not check employment status, qualifying service, earnings periods, notice requirements, contractual maternity pay, occupational maternity pay, tax, National Insurance, pension deductions or special circumstances.
