A well-established secondary academy in the West Midlands is seeking a committed Food Technology Teacher to join its Design & Technology department on a one-day-a-week basis. The academy is known for its structured learning environment, strong pastoral systems, and a culture that supports both staff and student success. While the school remains anonymous for recruitment purposes, it is a large, high-performing setting with a clear focus on academic discipline and personal development.
You will deliver engaging, practical Food Technology lessons across KS3-KS4, working within a supportive, well-resourced department that values consistency, subject expertise, and high expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that build practical skills and nutritional understanding
- Plan, assess, and track progress in line with curriculum requirements
- Maintain excellent safety standards in practical kitchen environments
- Contribute to departmental planning on a part-time basis
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or strong relevant teaching experience
- Up-to-date Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong subject knowledge in Food Preparation & Nutrition
- Confidence managing practical lessons and maintaining a safe, organised workspace
- A calm, consistent approach aligned with the academy's high expectations
