1:1 ASD Support Assistant – Primary Schools (Carmarthen)
£14.25 per hour | Weekly PAYE pay | Flexible part-time & full-time roles | September 2026 start
We are currently recruiting 1:1 ASD Support Assistants to work across welcoming primary schools in Carmarthen and surrounding areas from September 2026.

About the Role
As a 1:1 ASD Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to access learning and thrive within a mainstream primary classroom.
You will provide consistent, structured support to help pupils feel safe, engaged, and included in all aspects of school life.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with ASD
- Supporting engagement with learning activities in and out of the classroom
- Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Following individual support plans set by the class teacher and ALNCo
- Promoting positive behaviour, routine, and independence
- Supporting transitions between lessons, activities, and break times
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage progress

- Passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs
Experience We Welcome
This role is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:
- Teaching Assistants / Learning Support Assistants
- SEN / ALN support staff
- 1:1 classroom support experience
- Nursery / Early Years practitioners
- Youth workers or pastoral support roles
- Care assistants looking to move into education
- Sports coaches, mentors, or behaviour support workers
No formal school qualification is required if you have relevant experience and the right attitude.
