Nextech
Role – 2 Line Engineer
Location – Newcastle
Salary – £35,000
Hiring ASAP!!!!
Fancy solving real problems for real clients, on real infrastructure – not just tickets?
We are partnered with fast growing MSP, who are looking for a sharp, 2nd Line Engineer to join our Newcastle team and make an immediate impact.
This isn't a role where you'll be stuck doing the same five fixes on repeat. You'll be hands-on across Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware/Citrix, and a huge variety of client environments – building your skills fast while being the trusted voice clients turn to when things go wrong.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering first-class 1st/2nd line support and being the go-to for client IT queries
- Diagnosing everything from desktop hiccups to server-level issues, under time pressure and loving it
- Keeping Active Directory, GPOs and Exchange running smoothly
- Getting stuck into networking – TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, wireless configs
- Working with firewall platforms like Fortigate, Cisco, SonicWall and WatchGuard
- Managing backups via Azure and Veeam, and virtualisation across Hyper-V, VMware, AVD and RDS
- Becoming the office expert on O365 and MFA
- Documenting your wins so the whole team levels up
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years in a similar IT role, ideally MSP or customer-facing
- A genuine passion for enterprise tech – networking, servers, endpoints, cloud, security
- Confidence with Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server and AD
- Exposure to cyber security tools – firewalls, web filters, advanced protection
- VMware/Hyper-V experience, and ideally some Veeam know-how
- Bonus points for Mac support experience
- Certifications a plus: Microsoft Azure/365, VMware VCP, Citrix, Veeam
- Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK when needed
Our Culture
Our values drive everything. We're a fun, fair place to work where people are genuinely supported to grow – with Culture Champions making sure that's more than just words on a wall.
