Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Ours is vibrant, diverse and inclusive school with over 60 languages spoken across our community.

The foundation of our vision and purpose is to offer excellence to all our young people, based on four clear values which underpin all our work – pride, ambition, respect and togetherness. Our recipe for success is based on high quality teaching and academic rigour, blended with the highest expectations, support and guidance. This creates the safe and happy environment which young people need to thrive and flourish.

About the Role:

Pathways is our internal provision offering support, intervention and a tailored curriculum to young people who are vulnerable and in danger of suspension or exclusion. Housed with a dedicated suite of rooms, students are offered a supportive environment where the same high standards expected in the wider school community are maintained. Blending a programme of graduated support with an academic curriculum, Pathways offers a flexible and personalised provision for young people across Key Stage 3 and 4. Our work in this respect is pioneering, and is used as a model by many other schools in our area.

We are looking for an outstanding practitioner to be an academic learning mentor within this process. The role will involve promoting high expectation for both behaviour and academic achievement. You will support the delivery of a tailored curriculum which will meet the needs of vulnerable learners. You will also help to deliver a suite of graduated 'early help' interventions to address social, emotional and behavioural needs.

About you:

  • Be familiar with best practice in teaching students with specific learning and special educational needs, or who pose behavioural challenges.
  • Be able to liaise with a range of staff across the school, and to disseminate best practice to them.
  • Be able to maintain accurate and confidential documentation.
  • Build good links with other professionals and outside agencies

We can offer you the opportunity to join a supportive and friendly team and good professional development.

Why join us

  • A vibrant, happy and diverse community
  • A school with a firm commitment to an inclusive ethos
  • Excellent professional development and guidance
  • A whole school commitment to providing excellence for all
