Accountant – Finance Operations (Maternity Cover- Interim Hybrid working )
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Rate: £300 per day (via Umbrella)
Contract: Maternity Cover -10-12 months
About the Role
We are seeking a high-calibre Qualified Accountant to join a Finance Operations team based in Cardiff. This role offers a hybrid working model, combining office collaboration with flexible remote working.
The Opportunity
You’ll join a high-performing finance function delivering an integrated, sustainable, and high-quality accounting and reporting service to a wide range of business stakeholders.
The team plays a key role in ensuring strong financial control, balance sheet integrity, and effective governance through robust internal control frameworks
Key Responsibilities
As an Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Managing end-to-end intercompany accounting processes, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and resolving discrepancies
- Overseeing intercompany cash settlements, including payments, receipts, and netting cycles in line with treasury requirements
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and governance standards
- Prioritising and managing workload effectively to meet recurring deadlines and ad hoc requests
- Partnering with stakeholders across finance, operations, and wider business teams, including outsourced providers
- Supporting internal and external audit processes to ensure efficient delivery
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Proven experience with balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with a commitment to financial control and governance
- Experience with controls frameworks and intercompany accounting
Desirable Experience
- Background in Finance Operations or Shared Services environments
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience using SAP and/or BlackLine
- Knowledge of financial controls frameworks and audit support
