Mackie Myers have partnered with a leading social housing and property organisation to recruit an Accountant into their Property Services Finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, complex organisation that delivers essential services to communities across the UK. Working within a high-performing finance function, you'll play a key role in supporting operational leaders, providing financial insight, and ensuring the effective management of substantial budgets and investment programmes.
The Role
The Accountant will provide a comprehensive management accounting and business partnering service to the Property Services division, supporting budget holders and senior stakeholders with high quality financial information and analysis.
Working closely with operational teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit support, and financial performance analysis. This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence decision making.
Main Duties
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and performance reports for Property Services activities
- Deliver detailed financial analysis, variance reporting, and key performance indicators to support decision making
- Partner with budget holders and operational leaders to manage financial performance and achieve business objectives
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes across revenue and capital expenditure programmes
- Provide technical accounting expertise and support year end reporting, statutory accounts, and audit processes
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records
- Support the development of financial systems, reporting tools, and continuous process improvements
- Collaborate with finance colleagues, operational teams, auditors, consultants, and other stakeholders on projects and business initiatives
- Deputise for the Finance Manager where required
The Successful Candidate
- CCAB qualified accountant or finalist actively working towards qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, open to candidates straight from practice)
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience within a busy finance environment
- Previous experience operating within a finance business partnering model
- Excellent analytical skills and commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve financial performance
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence influencing non finance colleagues
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability, including experience using reporting or business intelligence tools
- Property, housing, or project accounting experience would be advantageous but is not essential
